Dong Yoon Park is a Designer and Creative Technologist.
He became interested in computer graphics with painting software Dr.Halo and Deluxe Paint, during the era of XT computers. His curiosity about computer graphics inspired him to study electrical engineering at Korea University, from semiconductor to operating system and he started working in the web design and development fields in 1999 with dot-com startups and internet boom.
After the military service and receiving bachelor of engineering degree from Korea University, he had worked at Samsung Electronics as a software research engineer, in the Telecommunication R&D Center, focusing on the user interface for GSM/WCDMA and experimental mobile phones. Collaboration with the design team and previous experience in web design fueled his desire to become a designer.
He went back to design school and studied visual communication design at SADI(Samsung Art & Design Institute) and continued his study at Parsons The New School for Design, in the MFA Design & Technology program. With this multidisciplinary background, he is interested in the synergy between design and technology. His research topics include UI/GUI design in evolving mobile platforms, typography, data visualization and 3D graphics. He has launched several mobile applications for iOS including Typography Insight, Parsons Mobile Viewbook and Twit Knoll. On 2011, his book ‘도전! 아이폰4 프로프래밍(iCan iPhone4 Programming)’ has been published and has become a best seller in Korea which he wrote and did all the editorial design. From 2011 summer, he is working as UX Designer at Microsoft.
Designer이자 Creative Technologist인 박동윤은 고려대학교에서 전자공학을 전공한 후 삼성전자 정보통신총괄 통신연구소에서 휴대폰 및 다양한 실험적 단말의 UI 소프트웨어 연구 개발을 담당하였다. 이후 디자이너로서의 또 다른 도약을 위해 삼성디자인학교 SADI(Samsung Art and Design Institute)에서 커뮤니케이션 디자인을 전공하였고, 뉴욕 Parsons The New School for Design의 MFA Design and Technology 대학원 과정을 마쳤다. 공학과 디자인 전공자로서 두 분야의 시너지를 창출할 수 있는 다양한 작업을 하고 있다. 특히 모바일 플랫폼에서의 디자인 및 개발에 큰 관심이 있어 iOS 개발서적인 <도전! 아이폰4 프로그래밍>을 집필 및 디자인하였다. 현재는 미국 시애틀의 Microsoft 본사에서 UX Designer로서 Windows 8 의 매트로 스타일 앱을 비롯한 다양한 디자인 작업을 하고 있다.
